Our Assessment: The M1 Carbine is one of the gallant heroes of World War II. Used by American troops in both theatres, it was the smaller more ergonomic cousin to the M1 Garand Main Battle Rifle. The M1 was produced by everyone from Winchester to General Motors. After World War II, the M1 Carbine would go on to serve US forces in Korea and Vietnam, becoming one of the most famous US battle implements. Several companies would go on to produce civilian variants of the M1, including Universal. Universal Firearms began production in 1961 using surplus military parts to create a civilian version of the WWII M1 Carbine aka the Universal Carbine. When the military surplus parts ran out, Universal simply produced their own.  Luckily, this is a 1st Gen production using mostly USGI parts! With a GI slide that indicates that parts within are GI–This Universal Carbine is about as close as you can get to an original M1 Carbine without stumbling upon a war time original! This could be a critter gun, a range gun, or a truck gun thanks to its compact yet powerful build. With its original Universal Factory Box, this is a collectible WWII era icon that shouldn’t be passed on!  Please see our photos, specs below, and good luck on your bid!
