Our Assessment: If you serve under the power and authority of Lord Helmet, then you should be very familiar with this aesthetically futuristic rifle. Featured in the iconic and hilarious spoof Star Wars parody “Space Balls”, this Calico M-100S rifle was perfect for its lead role in the film as a Lord Helmet minion’s blaster and the trusty escape weapon of princess Vespa, Lone Star, and his sidekick Barf. Unusual styling combined with the quirky-yet-revolutionary 100-round helical feed magazine indeed make this gun look like something from space rather than California. This meant the M-100 was a favorite prop for hollywood for several additional movies including (RoboCop or Space Truckers anyone?) during the 90s. While reliability was a slight problem for this firearm, the high volume of ammo at one’s fingertips, the ambidextrous handling, and the bottom ejection port make for a fun shooting platform. This is the rifle version of the Calico series. It’s the Big Papa of its offspring. It’s the one that was created for military and police markets due to its slim profile, high almost ridiculous capacity, and light weight. The M-100S Variant is the sporter version of the M-100, and comes with beautiful Cherry-wood stocks. This is a wonderfully rare find and would bring that extra pizazz to any collection. Whether you are a first time buyer or long time collector, this rifle is dying to make it into your arms and be put through its paces downrange. With the weight of a full magazine and the upward vented flash suppressor – rapid and accurate fire of this firearm is made easy. Markings: Left side of the frame is marked “CALICO M-100S .22LR”. The left side of the rear sight reads “U.S. & FOREIGN PATENTS PEND”. Left side of the helical magazines are marked “CALICO M-100 .22LR”. Next to the safety selector switch above the grip is marked with an “F” encapsulated by a red circle and an “S” below that. The right side of the helical magazine reads “ U.S.PAT.NO.4,676137 MADE IN U.S.A.” while only one also has “AMERICAN INDUSTRIES” on the same side. Right side of the frame is marked “AMERICAN INDUSTRIES D000583 BEFORE USING THIS FIREARM, READ AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS”. Right side of the rear sight is marked “MADE IN BAKERSFIELD. CA.. U.S.A”. The buttplate reads, “CALICO”.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The thumbhole stock and handguard are cherry hardwood. The cast aluminum receiver with its stainless steel bolt and forend show minor wear from handling. There are few light and sparse scratches throughout the stock and handguard. The left side of the handguard has one notably large scratch. There are no chips or cracks. The bottom of the thumbhole stock and the front of the handguard housing have sling rings. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: The screw heads are undamaged. The markings are very crisp. Overall, this rifle rates in Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements. Uses patented Helix 100 rd magazines that feed through the top of the receiver and must have both mag release levers pressed on each side to release the magazine. Has ambidextrous safety.
