Markings: The left side of the frame is marked “SAVAGE” and “FIRE SAFE”. The top of the slide is marked “Savage Arms Co. Utica. N.Y. U.S.A. CAL. 32.” and “Patented November 21. 1905 -7.65. M-M.” The front of the frame is marked “131476”. Both grip panels are marked with the “Savage Quality” Native American head logo.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is fixed blade. The rear sight is a u-notch sight grooved in the slide.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are a checkered black plastic. There are light scuffs and scratches along the edges. There is some wear to the logo on the left panel. The rear edge of the right panel has a chunk missing from it. The grips rate in about Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is semi-bright and the rifling is defined. There is moderate to heavy erosion in the bore.
In this writer’s opinion, this bore rates 5.5 out of 10.
Many military and C&R eligible weapons have bores that will show erosion. This is not only due to age but to the fact that corrosive primers were commonly used in ammunition worldwide. For example, the U.S. used corrosive ammunition throughout WWII. The U.S. military did not begin to phase out corrosive-primed ammunition until the 1950s.
Overall Condition: This gun retains about 70% of its metal finish. There are scuffs, scratches, and spots of oxidation throughout. There is a spot of heavy wear to the finish on the left front side of the slide near the muzzle, which may be from a holster. There is thinning to the finish throughout, especially along the front strap and the bottom of the frame. The finish is worn on the grip safety. There is a spot of corrosion in the upper right rear side of the frame. There is wear to the finish along the edges of the grips. The safety lever has caused a spot of finish wear. The barrel exterior has a few spots of oxidation. The pins have some marring. The markings are clear, though there is wear along the edges of most. Overall, this pistol rates in about Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not test fire this firearm. As with all firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet all your maintenance needs.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a 10 round .32 ACP magazine in Good condition.
Our Assessment: The Savage Model 1915 pistol was a derivative of the earlier successful Model 1907. It featured a hammerless design and the addition of a slide release on the right front side of the frame was made. Like the 1907, the 1915 was produced in both .32 and .380 ACP. The Model 1915 in .32 ACP had a very short production run, only being made in 1915 and 1916. Due to this, very few were made, with total estimates being around 6500. This example is in .32 ACP. The grips are in good condition, though there is a chunk missing from the rear side of the right panel. The metal retains most of its finish, but there is thinning and oxidation throughout. The bore is semi-bright with moderate to heavy erosion. Albeit nearly functionally the same, the Model 1915 is a somewhat rare pistol that has been greatly overshadowed by its older brother. This example would fit into any early 20th century semi-automatic pistol collection. Please see our photos.
