Our Assessment:  Introduced by Roy Weatherby in 1958, the Mark V action was designed to be the strongest action in the world. Roy wanted to create a high-quality, accurate, and powerful rifle for hunting that could handle his high-velocity cartridges.A Weatherby Mark V rifle is more than just the sum of its parts; it’s an embodiment of precision and performance. The rifle was marketed as “The World’s Strongest Bolt Action”. The Mark V action has been tested to be able to contain up to 200,000 CUP (Copper Units of Pressure). The testing of the rifle was conducted on a production rifle chambered for the . 300 Weatherby Magnum. This round in particular will kill anything in North America. The .340 Weatherby Magnum rifle cartridge was introduced in 1962 by creator Roy Weatherby[2] to fill the gap between the .300 Weatherby Magnum and the .378 Weatherby Magnum, and in response to the .338 Winchester Magnum released in 1958.

The .340 Weatherby Magnum uses the same .338 in. diameter bullets as the .338 Winchester Magnum, but it does so at greater velocity than its Winchester competition. In field tests the .340 clearly outperforms the 300 Ultra mag, .338 Win mag. and even rivals the larger .375 H&H, providing a much flatter shooting and harder hitting performance. This cartridge is powerful enough for even the largest North American game and is suitable for most African game as well.

This Rifle in particular is in fine shape and would be a definite statement piece for any collection. One can imagine owning one of the strongest bolt actions ever produced ,knowing that when you fire it whatever is on the receiving end WILL GO DOWN, all while shooting with the elegance and style that only Weatherby can offer. The styling of this rifle leaves little to be desired. Purchase this rifle, you will not be disappointed.
