Markings: The top of the barrel has a series of faded patent dates. The left side of the grip frame is marked “7493”.  The bottom of the barrel is marked “7493”.

Barrel Length: 3.5”

Sights / Optics:  The front sight is a shallow semi-circle blade fixed to the barrel.  The rear sight is a v-notch groove in the top-strap.

Stock Configuration & Condition:  The grips are two-piece smooth walnut.  There are some scattered scratches, scuffs, draglines, and compressions. The right grip has a particularly large compression.  There are no chips or cracks. The grips rate in about Very Good overall condition.

Type of Finish: Case Hardened, Steel/Iron (Type 3)

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is gray with sharp rifling.  There is scattered rust throughout the bore but no notable pitting. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 7/10 for a black powder revolver.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 20% of its metal finish. The strongest remaining finish is located in protected areas. The finish has numerous scattered spots of light scabbing, oxidation, discoloration from previous oxidation, light pinprick erosion, and scratches from abrasive cleaning. The cylinder has a turn line. The screwheads display tool marks with strong slots. The markings have mostly faded with time except for the serial numbers. Overall, this revolver is in about Very Good condition as an Antique

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The mainspring is strong and the cylinder locks up very well with only light movement. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
