Our Assessment: The M1A1 Carbine is a lightweight, semi-automatic rifle that was used by the US military during World War II and the Korean War. It was designed to replace the heavier and bulkier M1 Garand rifle in certain situations, such as for troops who required a smaller and lighter weapon, such as paratroopers, support personnel, and officers.

The M1A1 Carbine was first introduced in May of 1942 and quickly became a popular weapon among American troops. It was used extensively throughout World War II, particularly by airborne troops, and it saw action in every major theater of the war. After the war, the M1A1 remained in service with the US military during the Korean War, where it proved to be a reliable and effective weapon in jungle and mountain terrain.

This example is an early Inland M1A1 that was rebuilt at the Augusta Arsenal after the war. It retains most, if not all, of its original markings, with the rebuild mainly adding late and post war improvements to the rifle. The bore is bright, with only some minor corrosion but with sharp rifling. This is a lovely example of an oft-relished after rifle, made famous by US paratroopers. This will make a great addition to any US or WWII surplus collection, and it has the benefit of being easy to store too.
