Our Assessment: Once upon a time, in the 1850s, Colt designed the first repeating rifle adopted by U.S. military. It was pretty much their original handgun design elongated. Unlike those early repeating revolver rifles, the Rossi Circuit Judge shouldn’t be in danger of experiencing a chainfire (when all the chambers loaded with black powder accidentally catch fire and go off at once) and it also stops hot gas from escaping sideways and burning your support hand by installing gas-deflector shields and a flared forearms. There’s also a lot of other differences honestly, but those were the most interesting to write about. Taurus produced its first revolver in 1941, but it wouldn’t export the revolver to the U.S. market until 1953. Taurus USA came about in 1988 to better capture the US revolver market and the manufacturing would eventually move to Miami, FL in 2009. The Judge series was introduced in 2006 and the Rossi Circuit Judge was introduced in 2012. Today, sister companies Rossi and Taurus teamed up to bolster an already impressive revolver design and give it a new life as a long gun. You get the Taurus revolver with Rossi’s stock and rifle-length barrel to get the Rossi Circuit Judge. This spritely unit takes 45 Colt or 410 shotgun shells, making it an option for target shooting or home defense. It’s a point and shoot type of gun that you won’t break any distance records when you use .410 in it, but reports say it’s surprisingly accurate when .45 LC is sent down the barrel. The textured hammer and cylinder release are easy to reach and manipulate at a moment’s notice. So, if you’re looking for a practical defense gun or just something you can have a good time with, this is also a great platform for you.
