Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked, “MOD. BRN-601 CAL. 5.56MM SER. B6013523 BROWNELLS INC MONTEZUMA, IA USA SAFE SEMI”. The buffer tube is marked on the left side, “CMMG PAT. 10,551,144”. The right side of the buffer tube is marked, “FASTBACK”. The buttstock is marked, “CMMG” on both sides. The Scope is marked, “VLIFE 2.5-10×40 RANGE YARDSX100”. The top of the barrel is marked, “CHROME BORE”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is an A1 post iron sight and the rear sight is A1 Type L-type flip aperture. The Carry handle has a picatinny rail mounted with a VLIFE 2.5x10x40 Scope attached that also featured complimentary laser sight. The sight picture is clear and the laser is fully functional.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is an adjustable Receiver Extension And Stock Kit, RipStock, Standard CMMG buttstock. The pistol grip is a standard A1 Style checkered grip with lanyard loop (Brown). The Handguard is an A1 triangular full length polymer handguard. The LOP measures 12.25” from the front of the trigger to the back of the fully extended buttstock. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition There is a loose storage dragline on the left side of the handguard. There are no chips or cracks. The rest of the polymer surfaces are very clean and free of scratches.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light wear mainly consisting of a couple light scratches and loose storage marks over the magwell. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: In beautiful condition that only retro style platforms can glow with, this AR-15 is the epitome of basic, but not in a bad way. Basic in this case means pre ban factory configuration, reliable, and ready to use.The BRN-601 was created by Brownells to be a faithful rendition of the original m16 rifle manufactured betwenn 1959 and 1964. THe BRN-601 represents an almost true iteration of Eugene Stoner’s Original design and philosophy which propelled this design to become the most popular platform in the AR-15. With its solid A1 features, you can give this arm the 21st-century treatment at the range or keep it as a show-and-tell piece. Either way, ya gotta bid on it first!
