Our Assessment:  The Century Arms AK63DS is built using Hungarian Military Surplus parts on a stamped receiver.  The barrel is a Chrome moly 4140 barrel and this rifle comes with a underfolder stock for added transportability. It also includes a bayonet lug for added close quarters defense options, as well as a Tapco trigger group.  This is a fine remake of one of the better versions of the AK Pattern rifle with original military parts and would be an excellent addition to any AK collector’s safe or a starting point for any new AK collector.

Markings:  The bottom of the receiver is marked “CENTURY ARMS AK63DS 7.62X39MM GEORGIA, VT / AK63DS-F03665”.  The left side of the trigger is marked “C”.  The left side of the trunnion is marked “A 163532”.  The right side of the receiver is marked “S F”.

Barrel Length: 16.5” threaded with slant muzzle brake.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is an adjustable post and the rear sight is a “U” notched tangent marked from “1-10” and “A” for the battle position.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The handguard is a 2 piece Hungarian wooden upper and lower guard with smooth wood pistol grip. The buttstock is an underfolding steel stock. There is some light handling wear.  The LOP measures 128” from the front of the trigger to the extended buttplate. There are few light compression marks and scratches.

Magazine Quantity & Condition: One 30rd polymer AK PMAG in Very Good condition.

Type of Finish: Black Phosphate

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is semi- bright and the rifling is sharp, the grooves dark and deep. There is no visible erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows scratches on the receiver and barrel.  The screw heads are sharp and serviceable and the pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall this rifle rates in about Very Good condition. Please see photos for a better understanding of this rifle’s condition

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
