Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked “G4488”, “Mauser Chileno Modelo 1895”, “Manufactura Loewe Berlin.” The top and left sides of the bolt stop are marked with a proof mark. The left side of the barrel is marked “6.5x55MM AI”. The left side of the bolt sleeve is marked “47”. The rear of the safety is marked “Mark II”. The bottom of the magazine floor plate is marked “16”. The bottom of the action assembly is marked “C2032”. The scope mount is marked “Leupold”. The left side of the scope is marked “Burris”. The rear top side is marked 3x-9x Full Field II +”. There are various small proof and acceptance marks throughout.

Sights / Optics: There is no provision for a front or rear sight. The rifle is equipped with a Burris 3-9x Full Field II + variable rifle scope mounted on a Leupold scope mount.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The one piece wood stock has a checkered semi-pistol grip with a metal cap, metal nose cap, left side cheek rest, and a checkered metal buttplate. There is wear to some of the checkering on the buttplate. There are compression marks, scuffs, and scratches throughout the wood. There are two long drag marks on the stock beneath the bolt stop and on the right side of the wrist. The LOP measures 13.25” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.

Finish Originality: Refinished
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is very light erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish as refinished. There are light scuffs and scratches to the metal surfaces. The finish is thinning in a few spots on the barrel near the muzzle. There is a small impact mark on the front of the nose cap. There are a few small impact marks on the scope mount bridge. There is a drag line on the left side of the scope. The screw heads show very light use. The markings are mostly present, though their edges are fuzzy from the refinish. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition as refinished.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The rifle has been fitted with an aftermarket trigger, which has reduced amount of trigger pull weight. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The rifle comes equipped with a Burris scope set on a Leupold scope mount.
Our Assessment: This was originally a Chilean Mauser Model 1895, built by Ludwig Loewe in Berlin most likely in 1895. The rifle was sporterized at some point, being dropped into a completely new stock. A new barrel was also added as the rifle was rechambered to 6.5x55mm Ackley Improved. In addition to these changes, the front and rear sights were removed and the receiver was drilled and tapped. This enabled a Leupold scope mount to be placed on the receiver and a Burris variable scope to be mounted. The scope has a scratch on the exterior and the lenses are dirty, but they are clear. That, combined with the bright bore, should make this a great hunting or target shooter. Please see our photos.
