Markings: The left of the barrel is marked “THE ’49ER MINER”, the right is marked “COLT SINGLE ACTION FRONTIER SCOUT 22 L.R.”, the top is marked “COLT’S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. U.S.A.”. The left of the frame has a rampant colt logo, the bottom is marked “0084FN”. The trigger guard has a verified proof and “P”. The butt has decorative engraving.

Barrel Length: 4 3/4”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade fixed to the barrel above the muzzle. The rear sight is a square notch integral to the top strap.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two piece smooth wood with gold-colored Colt medallions. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.

Type of Finish: Blue, Black Alloy & Gold

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is no notable wear or damage, only light handling marks. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol is in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this firearm. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes with a wood The 49er Miner display case with key, a custom wood rondel marked “THE ’49er MINER / SERIAL NO. / 0084FN”, and a cardboard sleeve.

Our Assessment: The Frontier Scout is a scaled-down version of its predecessors/grandfathers, the SAA and Frontier Six Shooter. Made by Colt and true to the original design, this one was made in 1966 and comes chambered for the ubiquitous .22 Long Rifle cartridge. This example is The ’49er Miner, from a limited edition of 500 revolvers celebrating the miners who flooded Northern California in the 1849 gold rush. It is in Excellent condition, appearing to have seen more time in its included display case than out.
