Our Assessment:  The Colt Frontier Six Shooter, introduced in 1873, is a revered revolver renowned for its role in the American Wild West. Chambered in .44-40 Winchester, it gained popularity for its compatibility with rifles of the same caliber. Favored by figures like Wyatt Earp and Bat Masterson, it symbolized law enforcement and frontier life. Its impact extended into the 20th century, maintaining its allure in literature, film, and popular culture. As a collector’s gem, this iconic firearm continues to embody the spirit of the Old West and remains a prized artifact of American firearms history.  This revolver is a bit of a mystery as the butt has been rounded and the desirable Colt Eagle Grips have been rounded with it.
