Overall Condition: The pistol retains about 97% of its metal finish. There is some finish loss on the backstrap, a few micro scuffs on the cylinder, as well as a few small scratches on the frame, top strap, and trigger guard.  The markings remain clear. The screwheads are slightly tool marked but retain strong slots and are serviceable. Overall, the pistol is in Excellent condition as C&R.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder locks with barely perceptible play on each chamber. The single-action trigger is crisp. The hammer has four clicks (the quarter notch (which serves as the safety), half-cock, when the cylinder lock lug engages the cylinder and the fully-cocked trigger). We did not fire this revolver. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box Paperwork and Accessories: This pistol comes with its velvet lined display case, factory handouts, and keys for the lock on the case.

Our Assessment:  The Colt General Nathan Bedford Forrest Edition Frontier Scout is a commemorative revolver that pays tribute to the controversial figure General Nathan Bedford Forrest, a Confederate Army general during the American Civil War. This revolver is part of Colt’s line of historical and commemorative firearms, which celebrate various figures, events, and milestones in American history. The Frontier Scout model itself is a single-action revolver that was very popular for its reliability, accuracy, and classic design, embodying the spirit of the Old West.

Manufactured with meticulous attention to detail, the General Nathan Bedford Forrest Edition features distinctive embellishments that set it apart from standard Frontier Scout models. These typically include special engravings, finishes, and possibly inlaid images or symbols associated with General Forrest, such as cavalry insignias or portraits. The revolver is chambered in .22 LR, making it suitable for target shooting and collecting rather than as a primary weapon for self-defense.

Collectors of historical firearms value this edition for its craftsmanship, historical significance, and the unique place it holds within the Colt commemorative series. The Colt General Nathan Bedford Forrest Edition Frontier Scout remains a piece of interest to collectors who value the historical and technical aspects of exceptionally crafted commemorative firearms.
