Our Assessment:  Introduced in 1998, the Colt LE6920 Law Enforcement Carbine closely resembles the military-spec M4, a testament to its robust design and functionality. Distinguished by its 16.1-inch barrel, longer than the M4’s standard 14.5 inches, the LE6920 is tailored for optimal performance with a variety of 5.56x45mm (.223 Rem) ammunition, enhancing bullet velocity and terminal effectiveness. The quality of the barrel is rigorously tested with a 70,000 psi proof cartridge and inspected for stress fractures, ensuring optimal performance and durability for extended sessions at the range.  The true government profile facilitates the attachment of an M203 grenade launcher, catering to law enforcement needs where tear gas and non-lethals may come in handy.

The LE6920’s design reflects a commitment to functionality and adaptability. Its handguard, a double heat-shielded M4 type, offers protection from barrel heat, while the Mil-Std-1913 rail on the flat-top upper receiver allows for a wide range of optics and sights, including popular choices among law enforcement like reflex-type sights. The mil-spec M4 bolt, enhanced with a robust extractor, ensures reliable operation under diverse conditions. Post-2005 models, such as this, feature a selective fire bolt carrier, adding mass for improved reliability and reducing wear on key components. The Colt LE6920, with its military-grade build and adaptability, remains a preferred choice for law enforcement agencies and civilian shooters alike, embodying the quality and reliability synonymous with the Colt brand.  If you are looking for a high quality Colt AR-15 that is sure to last well into the future, this is the one to get.  Please see our photos and good luck on your bid! – L.S.
