Markings: Left side of the receiver marked with Colt’s rampant Colt logo and “COLT AR-15 CAL .223 MODEL SP1 SER. SP20537” and the left side of the receiver behind the bolt catch is marked “COLT’S FIREARMS DIVISION COLT INDUSTRIES HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A. MFG.CO.” “SAFE” and “FIRE” marked next to the safety selector switch. Bottom of the barrel is marked “C MP C”. The Floor Plate of the magazine is marked, “CAL. 5.56MM COLT’S MFG. CO. INC. HARTFORD, CONN. U.S.A.”. The right side of the magazine is marked, “RESTRICTED MILITARY GOV’T/LAW ENFORCEMENT/EXPORT USE ONLY”, and the left side is marked, “MFG – 02 COLT’S MFG. HARTFORD, CT.”. The right side of the gas block has a C and another forge mark.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is post iron sight and the rear sight is A1 Type L-type flip aperture.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is synthetic with a triangle A1 handguard with a A1 buttstock and A1 Flash Hider. The LOP measures 12.75” from the front of the trigger to the back of the fixed stock. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is semi-bright and the rifling is sharp. There is little to no visible erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows wear along the barrel sides, the ejection port, carry handle, stock and magwell. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: With an aesthetic that only pre-ban platforms can glow with, this AR-15 is the epitome of basic, but not in a bad way. Basic in this case means pre ban factory configuration, tried and tested reliability, and ready to use. If you are in the market for your first or fiftieth AR, look no further.
