Markings: The right side of the 8″, 6″, 4″ and 2.5″ barrel shrouds are marked “DAN WESSON ARMS / 357 MAGNUM CTG.”. The right side of the frame is marked “DAN WESSON ARMS / MONSON, MASS. U.S.A. / 156626”.

Barrel Length: 8″, 6″, 4″ and 2.5″ barrels with solid ribs and full-lug shrouds

Sights / Optics: Each of the four barrel shrouds has a replaceable ramp front sight with a red colored insert. The rear sight is a white-outlined target sight pinned to the topstrap, adjustable for windage and elevation.

Stock Configuration & Condition: Two grips are provided with this revolver. The installed grip is a one-piece checkered blonde wood with dark grain stripes and DW medallions. The installed grip has light tool marks around the grip screw on the bottom. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The checkering is strong, there are no chips or cracks. Overall, the installed grip is in about Excellent condition.

A smooth wood grip with finger grooves is also included. This grip has more minor tool marks around the screw-hole. Otherwise, the additional grip has only light handling marks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, this grip is in Excellent condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: All bores are bright or mostly bright with sharp rifling. There is no erosion in any of the bores, but some do show stubborn fouling. In this writer’s opinion, the bores rate 9 or 10 out of 10.

Overall Condition: This handgun set retains about 98% of its metal finish. There are a few small marks, most notable on the right of the 4″ barrel shroud toward the muzzle-end. The action shows light operational wear. Otherwise, there are only light handling marks. The screw heads are undamaged. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver set is in Excellent condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This pistol comes with a brown hard case with a yellow padded interior, serial-matching label, Dan Wesson Arms patch, Dan Wesson belt buckle, an early-style multi-tool with no logo, an assortment of factory paperwork including manual, the barrels, and grip described above.

Our Assessment: This is a Dan Wesson Model 15-2H Pistol Pack, which was a revolutionary concept from Dan Wesson. Not since the original open-top percussion revolvers from Colt was it so easy for the user to change the barrel on a revolver. This package allows for conversion of the same revolver into a 2.5″ compact, concealed carry piece to an 8″ target revolver, stopping at 4″ and 6″ along the way as you choose. The extra grip should help fit any preference and other alternatives are available for this frame. Though not as popular as some other manufacturers, Dan Wesson earned a reputation, which continues to this day, of fine quality craftsmanship and innovative design.
