Markings: The right of the frame is marked “WESSON FIREARMS / PALMER, MASS. U.S.A. / 22B000742”. The 10″ barrel has a ram engraved on each side near the muzzle. The right of the 10″ barrel lug and one of the 6″ barrel lugs are each marked “CAL. 22 LR”. The other 6″ barrel lug is marked “DAN WESSON ARMS / CAL. 22 LR”. The front face of the cylinder is marked “742”.
Barrel Length: One 10″ and two 6″ barrels are included. The 10″ barrel and one 6″ barrel have ventilated ribs, the Dan Wesson marked 6″ barrel has a solid rib.
Sights / Optics: The rear sight is a square notch adjustable for windage and elevation in a base pinned to the topstrap. The 10″ barrel has an under-cut blade pinned to its ventilated rib. Each 6″ barrel has a serrated, ramped blade with a red plastic insert pinned to its rib.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is one-piece pebble-textured black rubber Hogue Monogrip. The grip has even light handling wear. There are no rips or tears. Overall, the grip is in about Fine condition as not original to the gun.

Bore Condition:
10″: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10 out of 10.
6″ Vent-Rib: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 10 out of 10.
6″ Solid Rib: The bore is mostly bright and the rifling is sharp. There is some minor erosion or odd tool chatter across the lands. In this writer’s opinion, the bore rates 7 or 8 out of 10.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. There are some scattered minor marks. The 6″ vent-rib barrel sleeve has a spot of oxidation on the right. The action shows operational wear. The screw heads range from sharp to tool marked with strong slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this revolver is in Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. This revolver functions in single action only. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This revolver comes with the two 6″ barrels as described and a two-piece styrofoam clamshell with cardboard sleeve and serial-matching label.
Our Assessment: The Dan Wesson company was founded by Daniel B. Wesson II, great grandson of Daniel Baird Wesson who cofounded Smith & Wesson. They began business in 1968 after his family’s business Smith & Wesson was acquired by Bangor Punta. Dan Wesson manufactured top quality revolvers, but its founder passed away in 1978 and the company subsequently ended up going through a leadership crisis before finally ending up as part of CZ. One of the most impressive aspects of Dan Wesson’s revolvers is that they featured easily interchanged barrels, a feature which had not been seen on revolvers since the mid-19th century Colt open top revolvers were on the market.
This revolver is a Model 22-V produced by Wesson Firearms, the name used when production was moved from Monson to Palmer, Massachusetts. It is an interesting set, converted to single action only with a 10″ barrel housed in a shroud with a ventilated rib, one 6″ barrel with a ventilated rib, and one likely earlier vintage 6″ barrel with a solid rib. The revolver appears to have seen limited and responsible use and comes with its original box. While this will surely interest the Dan Wesson collector, it should also prove to be the outstanding rimfire target revolver it was made to be. Please see our photos and good luck!
