Markings: Left side of the receiver is marked “DPMS CAL. 308 MOD. LR-308 SN: 110130” above magazine well and “DPMS ST. CLOUD, MN. U.S.A.” and “SAFE” and “FIRE” behind the bolt catch. The bottom of the barrel is marked “DPMS 338 1-10”. Both sides of the buttstock are marked, “MAGPUL INDUSTRIES CORP PRS CAGE 1LX50.”.

Sights / Optics: The top of the receiver has a picatinny flat top for all your favorite sights and optics.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The buttstock is an adjustable PRS Magpul buttstock (black). The pistol grip is standard A2 grip. The handguard is a round free float full length carbon fiber handguard. The bottom of the handguard has a sling swivel attached to the sling stud. The left side of the buttstock has a sling bar. The LOP measures 15” from the front of the trigger to the back of the fully extended buttstock. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore. There is some corrosion in the grooves around the recessed target crown of the muzzle.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. There is a scuff on the left side of the magwell as well as some general finish loss on the right side of the receiver. The screw heads are sharp and pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements. The mag release button is a CA Compliant bullet button.

Our Assessment: Built on the AR-10 platform, the DPMS LR-308 offers a great target shooting firearm along with some great tradition. This modern sporting rifle (MSR) offers accuracy, power, and flexibility for its users, with the option of easy customizations. Eugene Stoner’s ArmaLite AR-10 design chambered in 7.62 NATO was the design his company submitted to the US Army, who was looking to replace the M1 Garand. By 1957, the AR-10 made a late appearance in the military trials. Unfortunately, this firearm had a steel sleeved aluminum barrel and the design suffered a burst barrel during a military shooting torture test, damaging the company’s reputation and causing it to lose out on the military contract to the M14. But it wouldn’t take long for the AR design to experience a resurgence and the AR-10 would continue production. The DPMS LR-308 continues that lineage of hefty reliable firearms without losing any of the traditional high quality demanded from AR builds. If you’re looking for a classic post-AWB era AR build, this is a great example with additional modifications that make this a high tuned powerhouse. The bullet button, grip, stock, ambi-safety are customized for a top tier build and feel.
