Markings: Left side of the receiver is marked “FNH USA Columbia SC” above the magazine well. Behind the colt catch is marked “FN HERSTAL BELGIUM SCAR 17S cal. 7.62×51” and the serial number “HC55820” is to the right of that along with a silver barcode. “S” and “1” marked next to the ambidextrous safety selector switch on both sides. Bottom of the muzzle device is marked “Pat. No. 8,042,448” and the top bears the FNH logo.The right and left side of the straight grip is marked, “UTG” and “RBFGRP170” is marked on the right side of the base. The Bipod is marked “MAGPUL” at the front of the base. Both sides of the adjustable buttstock are marked with numbers “1-6”. Top of the barrel is marked “7.62×51 1:12”. The scope is marked, “NIKON P-223 PRECISION AR OPTIC P-223 SPOT ON OPTIMIZED”. The scope base rail is marked, “Burris P.E.P.R.”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is an adjustable flip up hooded post and the rear sight is an adjustable L-type flip up aperture. A full length picatinny rail allows for custom scopes mounts. Atop the rail is currently mounted a NIKON PR31 3-9×40 P-223 Scope.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a synthetic adjustable buttstock with an adjustable cheek rest and rubber buttpad. The pistol grip is a rubber molded ergonomic grip with thumb rest and finger grooves. It has a MIL-STD 1913 rail for optics across the entire top, along with three accessory rails on the forend. THe 6 o’clock rail has a foldable UTG straight grip as well as a Magpul adjustable telescoping Bipod. The 3 o’clock position has a TLR-1 HP Streamlight with quick attach/detach. The 9 o’clock position has a button strip for the flashlight. The LOP measures 14.25” from the front of the trigger to the back of the fully extended buttstock. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is little to no visible erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows some wear to the picatinnies as well as a few small scratches on the left and right side of the receiver. The screw heads are sharp. The cheek rest and buttstock adjust appropriately. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

FN has the bragging rights for being one of the main producers of military AR-type rifles for the United States, so they know a few things when it comes to adapting their designs to civilian markets. This firearm comes with multiple customization options; from the folding buttstock to the picatinny rails, you can really make this gun your own. Whether you’re looking for reliable performance, ease of use, or (and this is our favorite) the ability to shoot a target through a car door, this firearm offers all of that and more to its users. We really can’t say enough about this awesomely accurate and specced out firearm, but we’ll end this assessment on “bid on it and make it yours!”
