Markings:  The left side of the barrel flat is marked “BROWNING ARMS COMPANY”.  The right side of the barrel flat is marked “MADE IN BELGIUM 22 L.R.”.  The left side of the slide has a proof.  The bottom of the barrel is marked “BROWNING’S PATENT” with a proof.  The front strap is marked “106572TS”.

Barrel Length: 6.75 inch Heavy Barrel with vent rib

Sights / Optics:The front sight is an undercut serrated Patridge blade pinned to the ventilated rib. The rear sight is a square notch, adjustable for windage and elevation mounted to the rib.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The installed grip is a large walnut target grip with a thumb shelf and matching Schnabel-style tip forend. The stocks have some scratches and sparse small nicks and handling marks. The checkering is sharp. There is a crack in the left side of the grip just under the safety that has been glued. The shell deflector pin is included and installed. The grips rate in about Good condition.

Magazine Quantity & Condition: 2x 10rd .22lr factory magazines in Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its finish. The screw heads are lightly tooled and the pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Very Good condition. There are only two faint marks on the left side of the barrel.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories:The pistol comes in a black leather coated hard sided case with brass locking latch on the front, red felt interior with fitted depressions for the pistol, barrel weight set, multi tool, and cartridge tray, all of which are included along with a total of two 10-round magazines. There is a plaque in the case at the top-right reading “America’s Finest / BROWNING / Sports Equipment / St. Louis. Mo, Montreal. P.Q.”.

Our Assessment: The Browning Medalist model is a fine example of a true Bullseye match .22 target pistol. It can be fit with a variety of barrel weights or the installed forend and has a track record of quality. This example is in about Very Good condition for a Vintage pistol.  This pistol is quite attractive and should present well in its medalist case for a Browning collector.
