Markings: “Greg S. Murry”, “1992” on top of the barrel. “III” on the right side rear of the barrel. “JMW III” in a silver plate on the top of the wrist. “God be the glory” in a scroll being held by a silver eagle inlay on the right side of the buttstock. Multiple silver and brass inlaid designs throughout the stock.

Barrel Length: 42” octagon

Sights/ Optics: U-notch rear and front blade

Stock Configuration & Condition/ Grip: The stock is a black-painted maple with silver inlays and brass fittings. There are scratches, scuffs, and compression marks throughout. The black paint is worn around some of the edges, as well as on the underside of the buttstock. Overall, the stock is in Good Condition.

Type of Finish: Metal: Brown, brass, silver. Wood: Oil.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: Bore is semi-bright with deep rifling. There is some corrosion near the muzzle.

Overall Condition: This percussion rifle is in Good Condition. The metal surfaces have scratches and scuffs throughout. The brass powder box lid and brass buttstock have some areas of finish loss and tarnish.The interior surfaces of the brass trigger guard have heavy areas of tarnish and finish loss. The other brass fittings, such as the nose cap, ramrod retention loops, and side plate all have varying degrees of minor tarnish.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box Paperwork and Accessories: 1x stock inlaid powder box

Our Assessment: This percussion rifle sticks out with its dark black painted stock and extravagant silver and brass inlays. The large horse-headed inset powder box is sure to catch the attention of anyone who comes across it. While it could use a deep clean, this rifle would be a wonderful display piece that would fit into any American contemporary percussion rifle collection.
