Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “.45 COLT”. The top of the barrel is marked “-HARTFORD CT MODEL USA”. The left side of the frame is marked “PAT.SEPT. 1871 / PAT.JULY.2. 1872 US”. The bottom of the frame is marked “SA 2271” with three italian proofs including the AZ date code. The trigger guard front metal is marked “271 / C”. The bottom of the grip frame is marked “271”. The cylinder is marked “271”. The left grip is marked “AFC” in cursive. The bottom of the barrel is marked “ASM ITALY EMF S.A. CAL”, “P C 271”. The bottom of the right grip is marked “C”. The markings on this pistol are like the original US cavalry sidearm of the Custer Era.
Barrel Length: 7.5”
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a quarter-round blade fixed to the front of the barrel. The rear sight is a v-notch at the rear of a groove in the top strap.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are two-piece smooth hardwood. The grips have no notable wear or damage, only a few minor marks. There are no chips or cracks. Overall, the grips are in Excellent condition.
Type of Finish: Blue & Bone Charcoal Case Hardened Color
Finish Originality: Original
Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This revolver retains about 99% of its metal finish. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. This pistol is unfired from its previous original owner. Overall, this revolver is in about Like New condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. Lockup produces very little play on all six chambers. The trigger is crisp. The timing is Excellent. We did not fire this revolver. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
