Markings:  The top of the receiver is marked “U.S. CARBINE CAL .30 MI. / ROCK-OLA 440”.  The right side of the barrel band is double stamped “IA”. The bottom of the trigger group is marked “L”.  The mag release is marked “M WA”.  The right side of the buttstock is marked “RMC” with crossed cannons for Rock-Ola Manufacturing Company.  The front of the grip is marked with a circle “P”.  The barrel is marked “CBI 6544006 08/12 3V-B”.

Barrel Length: 18”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade sight with protective wings and the rear sight is a late issue adjustable aperture.

Stock Configuration & Condition:  The wood stock has a large traditional pistol grip, sling well and bar, metal checkered buttplate, and barrel band with sling swivel. The barrel has the late-war bayonet lug. The LOP measures 13″ from the front of the trigger to the rear of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Fine overall condition as refurbished  Please see photos.  There is a nick on the left side of the stock.

Magazine Quantity & Condition: One 10rd magazine in Very Good Condition.

Type of Finish:  Parkerized

Finish Originality:  Refurbished

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is some erosion in the bore primarily concentrated in the middle section.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 95% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows light wear from use on the receiver and charging handle. The remaining screw heads are sharp and pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this  rifle rates in about Very Good condition. Please see pictures for a better idea of the condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories:  This rifle comes with its attached tan canvas sling, a total of one magazine, and a buttstock canvas mag pouch.  The sling and pouch rate in Excellent condition.

Our Assessment:  Alright folks, today we’re gonna be taking a look at something real special – the James River Rock-Ola M1 Carbine Reproduction. Now, if you’re a fan of World War II firearms, you know that the M1 Carbine was a staple of the US military’s arsenal during the war, and this reproduction from James River Armory is about as close as you’re gonna get to the real deal.

It’s chambered in .30 Carbine, just like the original, and features a beautiful refurbished GI walnut stock and handguard that’ll make you feel like you’re right in the middle of the Battle of the Bulge. The action is smooth as butter, and the sights are dead on – you’ll be hitting steel at 100 yards all day long with this thing.

Now, the folks at James River have really outdone themselves with this reproduction. They’ve taken an old Rock-Ola M1 Carbine and rebuilt it from the ground up with all new US-made parts, including the barrel, receiver, and trigger assembly as well as a mix of original GI parts.  So you’re not just getting a replica – you’re getting a rifle that’s built to the same standards as the original.  This will make a great addition to any WWII collection or arsenal.  Good luck!
