Markings: The left shoulder of the barrel is marked “1895SBL” and “THE MARLIN FIREARMS CO. NORTH HAVEN CT. U.S.A. / * * * MODEL 1895SBL – CAL. 45/70 GOVT. * * *”. The right shoulder of the barrel is marked with Marlin’s two-line warning and “REP S” at the chamber. The left side of the receiver is marked “MR41081B”. The picatinny rail is marked “XS LEVER RAIL PATENT D577.094”.
Barrel Length: Approximately 18.25”
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade screwed to the barrel with a white painted stripe. The top of the receiver and chamber are mounted with a picatinny rail for sight and optic options. The rear of the rail has an aperture sight.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered gray laminate with a capped forearm and grip, straight comb, sling stud in the belly and the forearm cap, and a black rubber Decelerator buttpad. There are no chips or cracks. The right side of the comb has a couple small compression marks. The LOP measures 13.5” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. Overall, the stocks are in about Excellent condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. The rifling is sharp. There is a very light corrosion present. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 6/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. There are some very faint and light scratches on the sides of the receiver. The action shows light operational wear. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly and smoothly. The trigger is crisp. The receiver contains a push safety that blocks the hammer from hitting the pin. We have not fired this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with an offset hammer spur and its attached canvas sling.
