Markings: The left side of the barrel is marked “THE MARLIN FIREARMS CO. NORTH HAVEN, CT. U.S.A. MOD. 444S MICRO GROOVE BARREL CAL. 444 MARLIN.”. The left side of the barrel also has a “JM” stamp proof. The right side of the barrel is marked “ WARNING BEFORE USING GUN READ OWNER’S FOR SAFE OPERATION”. The tang is marked with the serial number “22109469”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a brass beaded blade that is dovetailed to the barrel. The rear sight is a flat-top U-notch elevator sight that is dovetailed to the barrel. The top of the receiver is drilled, tapped, with scope rings mounted.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece smooth wood with a capped forearm, semi-pistol grip, straight comb, and a rubber vented buttpad. The stock and fore end have scattered scuffs, scratches, and minor compression marks. There are no chips or cracks on the fore end, stock or buttplate. The LOP measures 13.25” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The buttplate shows scattered light marks. The stocks rate in about Very Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its metal finish. There are some light surface scratches on the receiver, some wear marks on the lever, the loop of the lever has a small patch of surface rust, the barrel and magazine tube both have a few small patches of surface rust and a few small surface scratches. The markings are clear. The screw heads are sharp and the pins are unmarred. Overall this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We have not fired this rifle. As with all previously owned firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
