Markings: Left side of the trunnion is marked “308623” and the dust cover is marked “8623”. The left side of the receiver is marked “BWK-92 SPORTER 5.56X45”. The bottom of the receiver is marked “B-WEST IMP. / TUCSON AZ / MADE IN CHINA / NORINCO. Right side of the receiver is marked “S” and “F”. Rear sight is marked with numbers “1-8” and “D”. The left side of the scope is marked with a star and “4X20”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded post and the rear sight is a “U” tangent notch leaf sight marked from “1 – 8” and “D”. The receiver is mouned with a B-Square Scope adapter mounted with a 4×20 scope. The sight picture is clear.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is a blonde wood fixed thumbhole buttstock with integrated cheek rest and two piece handguard. The LOP measures 14” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition. There are no noticeable deformities to the wood surface outside of a small nick on the left side of the lower handguard.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 10/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 98% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows some minor operation wear including some scuffs on the edges of the receiver and light scratches/drag lines. The screwheads are sharp and the pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: The BWK-92 Sporter is a Chinese factory-built AK exported to the USA from 1990 through 1994. They were made after the 1989 gun bans took effect in order to meet the sporter classification of firearms. This is a great version of the Kalashnikov AKM & AK Type 56 combined. Many BWK 92 Sporters were made on the stamped Type-56 receivers, which are the Chinese variant of the AKM. This is a great rifle with everything you need. Use it as a shooter or keep it pristine in your gun safe. Everything is tight and functions smoothly. With a great mix of old quality function with some new age production, these Chinese made AK47s in the AK world are held in high esteem and are highly sought after. Many consider the Chinese build to be superior to the Russian made AKs. One thing is for sure, those who love Chinese AKs live by them as the rifle has proven itself time and time again under the notorious AK Stress Test with flying colors. Though this rifle wasn’t born in the US, it sure does scream “AMERICA”. Add this to your arsenal and enjoy the chinese military grade rifles made famous in the world of AK’s. If you are familiar with the the MAK-90 then this rifle should make you feel right at home. It is basically the MAK-90 chambered in 5.56.
