Markings: Left side of the receiver marked “94140699” and the dust cover is marked “40699”. Lower receiver on the left side is marked “MAK-90 SPORTER / CAL. 7.62x39MM”. Left side of the receiver is marked with the “NORINCO” logo and “CJA SFLD MI / MADE IN CHINA”. Right side of the receiver is marked “S” and “F” and the right side of the bolt carrier group is marked “40699”. Rear sight is marked with numbers “1-8” and “D” for the battle position. The left side of the Trunnion has a “V” mark.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded post and the rear sight is a “U” tangent notch marked from “1 – 8” and “D”.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The buttstock is a MAK90 thumbhole wood stock with integral pistol grip, semi-monte carlo cheek piece, rubber buttpad, and sling ring. The handguard is a two piece wood handguard. The LOP measures about 14” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition. There are no chips or cracks. There are no notable defects. The stocks appear pristine.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows some light scratches and scuffs on the receiver and dust cover but nothing out of the ordinary for a Norinco import. The screwheads show some tooling but are sharp and the pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Excellent-Like New condition. It appears unfired outside of factory testing. There is light insertion wear on the mag release.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with its original factory styrofoam box, gun sleeve, a total of two magazines, oiler, cleaning kit, owner’s manual, and green canvas sling. The box has some good storage wear, but all the accessories are in Excellent unused condition.

The MAK90, or “Modified AK 1990,” emerged as a response to the 1989 U.S. import ban on “assault-style” firearms, which included previous Norinco models like the Type 56. As a workaround, the MAK90 comes with features that allow it to bypass import restrictions, such as a thumbhole stock and the absence of a bayonet lug or threaded muzzle, making it a unique artifact of international gun legislation.
Despite its “sporterized” appearance to comply with import laws, the MAK90 retains much of the legendary reliability and durability associated with AK-47 models. Chambered in the ubiquitous 7.62×39mm cartridge, this rifle boasts a stamped receiver which offers robust performance.
