Our Assessment: The SSP-86 is a single-shot handgun produced by Ordnance Technology Inc, the company that would later become Magnum Research and become famous for producing “eagle” named handguns like the Desert Eagle and Baby Eagle. The SSP-86 is the original design that would inspire the Lone Eagle produced in the 1990s and is designed to handle centerfire rifle cartridges and uses a rotary action, making it unique compared to other handguns. The SSP 86 was originally marketed as a silhouette shooter and hunting handgun, and was available in a wide range of calibers, including .22 Hornet up to .30-06 Springfield. The rotary breech action is what gives the SSP-86 its “cannon” designation and results in a shorter handgun without a traditional bolt mechanism. The gun must be cocked with a lever at the front of the stock before it can be fired, and it has a safety mechanism above the trigger to protect the shooter once it is cocked. The action is opened and closed by twisting the rear breech knob, and the ejector will kick out spent casings when the action is rotated open. The Lone Eagle is designed to be a hunting rifle that identifies as a pistol. The track record of extreme accuracy meant that many were mounted with scopes for long range marksmanship purposes and hunting. Sights / Optics: The Receiver is equipped with two mounting rails that are fitted with a Bushnell High Contrast Scope. The sight picture is clear.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The pistol grip is Polymer and integral to the frame. The grip is ergonomic with form fitting grooves. The left side of the frame has a charging lever. There are no chips or cracks. There is some light wear and loose storage marks on the grip and frame and rates in Overall Fine Condition.
Magazine Quantity & Condition: None. This is a single shot pistol.

Bore Condition: The bores are bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 97% of its metal finish. The screw heads are sharp and the markings are clear. There are some light scratches on the barrel. Overall, this handgun rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements. This pistol uses a rotating Breech Block at the rear of the receiver that twists shut to fire and eject casing when twisted open. Safety button is located above the trigger group.
