Our Assessment:  The Beretta Model 390 is a 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun that has garnered respect for its reliability and versatility. A descendant of Beretta’s esteemed 300 series, which has a lineage going back to the 1950s, the Model 390 builds upon decades of shotgun engineering expertise. Known for its smooth operation and soft recoil, the Model 390 is equally at home in the hunting field as it is on the sporting clays course, offering a level of adaptability that suits a wide range of shooting activities.

Built around a gas-operated system, the Model 390 takes advantage of the ‘self-compensating’ feature that ensures optimal functioning across a variety of loads, from light target rounds to heavy waterfowl loads. The gun incorporates an anodized aluminum alloy receiver, which makes it relatively lightweight without compromising durability.

In conclusion, the Beretta Model 390 is a workhorse 12-gauge shotgun that offers an excellent mix of performance, adaptability, and traditional craftsmanship. Its utility in both hunting and sport shooting environments, along with its robust yet refined construction, makes it a worthy choice for those seeking a shotgun that will stand the test of time.
