Our Assessment: This is an example of a rare pre-ban HK HK94. The HK94 was the semi-automatic only US import civilian version of the famous MP5. Imported for only a few years in the mid-to-late 1980s, the HK94 only differed from the MP5 in that it was only semi-automatic and it had a 16.5” barrel, nearly everything else is shared between the two firearms. The HK94 retains the roller-delayed blowback operating system that has made HK rifles famous for well over 60 years. This example was built in 1986 and comes with all the accouterments offered when these were originally marketed, including the barrel shroud and collapsible buttstock. Interestingly, it also comes with a WWII-era German Zf4 4x scope mounted in an HK STANAG claw mount. These scopes were originally used on K98k rifles that were assigned to soldiers who were that era’s equivalent to a designated marksman. Why it is attached to this rifle is anyone’s guess, but it does fit and would probably function well-enough within the standard use cases of an HK94. There is very little wear to this rifle, with most of it being focused on the barrel and barrel shroud, along with some minor scuffing on the receiver and lower sections. The bore has nearly no erosion and should make for a really nice shooter, especially when combined with the scope. This is a really nice example of a rare rifle that would scratch the itch of any HK or MP5 fan. Please see our photos.
