Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked “PTR INDUSTRIES” on the magwell. Also marked “S” and “F” next to the safety selector switch. The Right side of the magazine well is marked “PTR 91 PTR INDUSTRIES, INC. BRISTOL, CT U.S.A. .308 CAL.”. The rear sight is marked “1-4”. The top of the top of the receiver is marked, “GI5442”.

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded post. The rear sight is an adjustable diopter drum.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The buttstock and handguard are HK wood furniture. The pistol grip is a smooth polymer integral to the frame. The handguard has appropriate ventilation ports and finger grooves. The LOP measures 14.5” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttstock. (There is no Buttplate). The stock rates in aboutVery Good overall condition. There are some small compression marks on the buttstock. The handguard has some light scratches. There are no chips or cracks.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 70% of its metal finish. This is a weird one, but the rifle has a light even distribution of corrosion covering the entirety of the outer rifle. The internals are clean and the bore is bright. The screw heads are sharp and pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements. Has CA Compliant Bullet Button.

Our Assessment: Starting in 2002, a new American company called PTR started to offer a clone of the very popular Heckler & Koch G3 (HK91) battle rifle, using HK licensed machinery from Portugal. The Portuguese company was making their military’s version of the G3 and other clones. “PTR” was the abbreviation for “Precision Tactical Rifle.” In the finishing process, these rifles are first Parkerized and then given a baked-on powder treatment. This results in a hard, matte finish that protects the gun from most normal light use-wearing. This unit is an HK91 clone made by PTR industries PTR-91, which took over production after JLD Enterprise. The HK91 would be banned from import into the United States in 1989 so this PTR Industries PTR-91 GIR “Wood Classic-K” represents a unique opportunity to own a rifle built on original high-quality tooling in the United States with original stock parts.
