Overall, the stocks are in about Very Good condition. There are no chips or cracks.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright. There are a couple spots of erosion toward the muzzle end. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 8/10 for C&R.

Overall Condition: This shotgun retains about 93% of its metal finish. There are some scattered spots of oxidation on the receiver with some thinning on the leading edges. There are some minor rust freckles and scabs on the receiver.  There is a small scuff on the right side of the receiver near the forend. The screwheads are sharp with serviceable slots. The markings are clear. Overall, this shotgun is in about Fine condition for C&R.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: None

Our Assessment: The Remington Sportsman is a variant of the Model 11 which was the first auto-loading shotgun made in the USA, originally as the “Remington Autoloading Shotgun(1905-1910)” before it was changed to the Model 11 in 1911. The Remington Sportsman shotgun shares the same basic action as the Model 11, The Browning A5 and the Savage 720. The model has been a staple of sportsmen all over the world since its inception and is a truly classic design. This one is chambered for 20 gauge and has a lot of finish remaining. It has some scattered light cosmetic wear but a good bore and mechanics. This will be a great shotgun for clay and flesh birds alike and should be a reliable shooter for decades to come. Please see our photos and good luck! – L.S.
