Markings: The left side of the receiver is marked “F0444”. The left side of the trunnion is marked “FPK PARATROOPER / 7.62 X 54R / MADE IN ROMANIA / TG KNOX TN”. The trigger is marked “ALG” on both sides. The right side of the receiver is marked “SAFE FIRE”. The rear of the dust cover is marked “F0444”. The muzzle brake is marked with the Primary Weapons Systems logo.
Barrel Length: 16”. 19.25” with Primary Weapon Systems muzzle brake.
Sights / Optics: The front sight is an adjustable post and the rear sight is an RPK style “U” notched sliding sight escalator marked from “1 – 8” and “n”. There is a scope rail on the left side of the receiver. The rail is mounted with a picatinny rail, two weaver scope rings, and a Bushnell Rifle Scope with Duplex Crosshair Reticle. The sight picture is mostly clear. The scope has some heavy handling wear. The adjustment knobs function correctly.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The furniture set is wood. The buttstock is a thumbhole stock with sling ring,cheek piece, buttplate, and bakelite cap at the bottom of the grip. The handguard is two piece vented wood with sling ring on the left side of the nosecap and a sling stud on the bottom of the handguard. The LOP measures 12.75” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Very Good overall condition. There are some scuffs, scratches, nicks, and compression marks scattered about the furniture. There are no chips or cracks. The buttplate has been epoxied over roughly with a rubber recoil pad placed over.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 8/10. There is is corrosion at the muzzle.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 93% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows mild operation wear overall. Most of the finish wear is on the edges of the scope rail, edges of the bolt carrier, ejection port, and the safety lever. The screw heads are sharp and the pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with a total of one magazine, its attached scope as mentioned above and its attached canvas sling.
Our Assessment: The Romanian FPK Paratrooper is a distinctive variant of the traditional PSL rifle, which itself is often mistaken for a sniper rifle but is more accurately described as a designated marksman’s rifle. This particular model was imported into the United States as a parts kit by Tennessee Guns International (TGI), who modified the classic PSL/FPK design by shortening the barrel, creating a more compact version ideally suited for paratrooper and mobile units.
Assembled in the USA from 100% Romanian components, the FPK Paratrooper maintains the original 7.62x54R caliber, known for its long-range accuracy and stopping power, making the rifle both potent and versatile in a variety of shooting conditions. The shortened barrel of the Paratrooper model enhances its maneuverability and ease of use in tighter situations where a full-length rifle would be cumbersome, yet it still retains substantial firepower.
The build quality adheres to the robust standards set by the original Romanian designs, renowned for their reliability and durability under harsh conditions. Despite the compact size, it keeps the classic aesthetics and functionality, including the side-mounted scope rail for optics and the traditional wooden stock, which adds to its visual appeal and practical ergonomics.
