Markings:  The left side of the frame is marked “RUGER BLACKHAWK .41 MAGNUM CAL.” with the Ruger Logo. The right side of the frame under the cylinder is marked with the serial number “40-08038”.    The left side of the barrel is marked “STURM, RUGER & CO., INC. / SOUTHPORT, CONN. U.S.A.”.

Barrel Length: 4.5″

Sights/Optics: The front sight is a red painted, serrated ramped blade, integral to a base fixed to the barrel. The rear sight is a square-notch in a base pinned to a channel in the top strap and is adjustable for elevation and windage.

Stock Configuration and Condition: The grips are two-piece wood grips with the silver Ruger phoenix logo on either side. The left side panel shows compressions and scratches throughout the panel. The right side panel has only very small compressions near the butt of the pistol. There are no chips or cracks. Overall the panels are in Good Condition.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10

Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 90% of its metal finish.The left side of the muzzle, the ejector,and trigger guard show finish loss from wear. The right side of the front of the ejector rod guide has had the finish worn off as well. The backstrap and butt have scratches in the finish. The cylinder has a barely visible turn line and finish loss around the rear edge. There is also finish loss above and below the leading edge of the right side grip panel. The serrations on the hammer spur are sharp. Overall this pistol is in Good Condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The cylinder locks with only light play on each chamber. We did not fire this handgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.
