Markings: Left side of the receiver at the barrel chamber is marked “EA328” The top of the receiver is adorned with 3 proof marks. There is one proof mark on the magazine release The bottom of the receiver and charging handle are marked “EA328” The bottom of the bolt is marked “By152” with additional proof marks.
Barrel Length: 24” before muzzle brake, 26.75” after muzzle brake
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded post. The rear sight is a “U” notched sliding sight escalator marked from “1-15”
Stock Configuration & Condition: The stock is solid wood throughout, with some scratches on the buttstock, and some dings in other locations. The top of the forend is cracked. Considering this firearm’s age and provenance, the stock is in Good Condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is dark, lightly pitted, and corroded. and the rifling is worn. There is moderate erosion in the bore. In this writer’s opinion, this rifles rate at a 5/10.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 10% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows minimal wear along the handguard and buttstock. The blued finish is fading in certain places but especially on the barrel shroud. The receiver, shroud, and barrel have patina. The screw heads are sharp and pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Good condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment: This Russian SVT 40 was made back in the 1940s. The rifle still looks darn impressive for a 75 year old service rifle. This one is not import marked.
The SVT-40 was produced in large numbers during World War II, with production continuing until 1945. However, production of the SVT-40 was eventually phased out in favor of the more numerous and simpler-to-produce Mosin-Nagant rifles. Despite this, the SVT-40 remained in service with some Soviet and Warsaw Pact forces after World War II. It was designed by famous Soviet firearms designer Fedor Tokarev. It was developed as a replacement for the earlier SVT-38 and was officially adopted by the Soviet military in 1940. The rifle saw extensive service during World War II, where it was used by Soviet troops on the Eastern Front.
