Our Assessment: The 629 is a classic revolver that’s been around since the 1970s, based on the original S&W 29 .44 Magnum but made of Stainless Steel. Since its invention it has been a popular choice for hunters, law enforcement officers, movie productions, and revolver enthusiasts.
One of the most notable things about the 629 is that it was designed specifically for the .44 Magnum cartridge, which was a powerful new round that had just been introduced at the time of the original 29 Revolver. Sights / Optics: The front sight is a serrated ramp with red insert. The rear sight is an adjustable Square notch sight with a white outline around the notch.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grip is pillar bedded rubber overmolded with a S&W medallion in both grips. The grips are in Very Good condition with some minimal dulling on the rubber pillar bedding.

Bore Condition: The bore is semi-bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This handgun retains about 99% of its stainless steel finish. The drag line is crisp on the cylinder. There are some light hard to notice scratches on the frame. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this handgun rates in about Very Good condition with minimal operation wear.
