Our Assessment: This is a Smith & Wesson Model 617, 6-Shot .22 Long Rifle Single and Double Action Target Revolver with a 6” barrel. These revolvers are tremendous fun to shoot. You can use it for informal or formal target shooting. You can use it for pest control or use it for practice, as an understudy, instead of using expensive centerfire ammo to practice double-action revolver shooting. But most of all, you can use it with your friends and family to have fun! This will be a great companion for your 686 and with good bore and strong mechanics is ready for the range. For the collectors, this revolver was produced prior to the introduction of the internal locking system, so if you want to add a “Pre-Lock” 617 to your safe, this would be a great option..especially in its condition with the accompanying accessories. Please see our photos and good luck!
