Markings: The right side of the magwell is marked “Special Weapons Inc / Grand Haven MI / SW5 9mm”.  The left and right side of the frame are marked “S F” for the safety options. The top of the receiver is marked with its serial number “A00522”.

Barrel Length: 16″

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded post and the rear is a diopter rotating drum.

Stock Configuration & Condition: The pistol grip and handguard are synthetic. The smooth pistol grip is synthetic and so is the smooth charging handle along with the smooth handguard. The bottom of the handguard has a picatinny rail for all your favorite attachments.  The stock rates rates in about Very Good overall condition.   The LOP measures 13.75” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate.  There are light scratches on the left side of the buttstock and on the right side of the handguard.   There are no chips or cracks.  The barrel has a vented barrel shroud that extends the full length of the barrel.

Magazine Quantity & Condition: This rifle comes with 2 40rd magazines and 2 30rd magazines all in Excellent condition.  The 30rd magazines are unopened in their original KCI packaging.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no visible erosion in the bore.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows wear on the claw scope mounts on the receiver.  There is a drag line around the safety lever from operation.  The screw heads are sharp and the pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition.  Please see photos for a better understanding of this rifle’s condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Our Assessment:  Now, when it comes to roller-delayed blowback rifles, you can’t help but think of the H&K MP5, right? Well, the SW5 is essentially an American-made clone of the MP5, with a few tweaks here and there.

Now, one of the biggest selling points of the SW5 is that it’s a civilian legal alternative to the MP5. And let’s be honest, who wouldn’t want an MP5? But sadly, for most of us, getting our hands on a real-deal MP5 is about as likely as finding a unicorn that farts rainbows.

So, that’s where the SW5 comes in. It’s a pretty good option if you’re in the market for a 9mm rifle that’s accurate and reliable.
