Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. There is light erosion in the bore.

In this writer’s opinion, this bore rates 9 out of 10.

Many military and C&R eligible weapons have bores that will show erosion. This is not only due to age but to the fact that corrosive primers were commonly used in ammunition worldwide. For example, the U.S. used corrosive ammunition throughout WWII. The U.S. military did not begin to phase out corrosive-primed ammunition until the 1950s.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 90% of its metal refinish. There are scuffs and scratches throughout the metal surfaces. There is a long drag line on the left rear side of the receiver. There is wear to the finish on the receiver end cap. There is pitting under the newer finish on the barrel shroud. The shroud retention lever has worn a line into the finish. There is wear to the finish along the sides of the rear sight escalator. The magazines have areas of wear to their blued finish throughout. The screw heads show light to moderate use. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Very Good condition as refinished.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This rifle comes with a leather sling, a 71 round drum magazine, two 36 round stick magazines, and a 30 round stick magazine.

Our Assessment: The Suomi KP/-31 was the primary submachine gun of the Finnish military during their wars against the Soviet Union in the late 1930s and early 1940s. Chambered in 9x19mm, the KP/-31 was unique among contemporary submachine guns in that the barrel was secured by lugs rather than being threaded into the receiver. This allowed soldiers to quickly change out an overheated barrel during combat. The KP/-31 was immensely successful and caused countries like the Soviet Union to reconsider its hesitancy towards using submachine guns on a wide scale. Many KP/-31s were imported into the United States as parts kits and TNW in Oregon was one of the primary companies that took the parts kits and created semi-automatic conversions for them. This is an example of one of those TNW made KP/-31 conversions. The stock has a bit of wear to it, mainly around the buttplate, though there are a few very small cracks at the bottom of the grip. The metal retains nearly all of its parkerized finish, with some scuffs and scratches scattered throughout. The bore is in really nice shape, with sharp rifling that should make for a good shooter. This rifle comes with a leather sling, a 71 round drum magazine, two 36 round box magazines, and a 30 round box magazine. All of the magazines are Finnish Army marked. This would fit into any Finnish, Second World War, or semi-auto conversion collection. Please see our photos.
