Markings: Left side of the receiver marked “0206” as well as “AK47S 7.62X39MM MADE IN CHINA” and “IMPORTER F.T.C WOODLAND HILLS CA”. The right side of the receiver is marked, “S” and “F”.
Barrel Length: 16.5” 17” with slanted muzzle brake.
Sights / Optics: The front sight is a hooded post and the rear sight is a “U” tangent notch marked from “1 – 8” and “I”.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The 3 piece wood furniture set is original to the rifle with fixed buttstock and two piece handguard. The buttstock has a steel buttplate with a trap door for cleaning kit storage. The storage compartment in the buttstock still retains its original cleaning kit. The pistol grip is smooth. The lower handguard features a cutout for the folding bayonet. The LOP measures 12.75” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. The stock rates in about Excellent overall condition for an original Early Chinese Import. There are no chips or cracks. There are only a couple very light scratches on the buttstock and an impression mark on the bottom of the pistol grip. This AK47S features a folding spike bayonet that is fully operational with a strong spring, a cleaning rod below the barrel, and threaded muzzle with removable slanted muzzle brake that is tight to the muzzle.

Bore Condition: The bore is mirror bright and the rifling is sharp. There is no erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 97% of its metal blued finish. The balance of the finish shows some light scratches on the receiver and dust cover. The screwheads are sharp and the pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle rates in about Fine-Plus condition. There are little to no signs or previous operation or use. It has definitely been stored excellently over the years for the duration of its life. There is some finish loss around the bayonet retaining lug as well as a light scuff on the left side of the trunnion likely from storage rub. Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance requirements.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: This Chinese AK47S comes with its original factory box. Early Imports, specifically Polytechs imported from factory number 416 were without manufacture markings as well as on the boxes they were shipped in. It comes with an original oiler bottle and its green canvas sling.
Our Assessment: The F.T.C imported AK47S is one of the earliest versions of the venerable AK platform to hit American shores. Imported from China, Polytech factory 416 in particular, in the 1970s, largely for use in Hollywood prop houses, the AK47S is a rare pre ban rifle that’s almost impossible to come by. This is about as close as you can get to a true Type 56 in the Civilian market. This is a great rifle with everything you need. Use it as a shooter or keep it pristine in your gun safe. Everything is tight and functions smoothly. With a great mix of old quality functions with some new age production, these Chinese made AK47s in the AK world are held in high esteem and are highly sought after. Many consider the Chinese build to be superior to the Russian made AKs. One thing is for sure, those who love Chinese AKs live by them as the rifle has proven itself time and time again under the notorious AK Stress Test with flying colors.
