Our Assessment:  The Smith & Wesson Model 58, chambered in the hard-hitting .41 Magnum and only one of 20,000 ever produced. This baby is a real gem, and let me tell you why.

First off, let’s talk about the history of this bad boy. The Model 58 was first introduced in 1964, as a companion to the .44 Magnum Model 29. It was designed as a law enforcement and military revolver, specifically for those who preferred the medium-frame size of the Model 10, but needed something with a bit more stopping power. And let me tell you, this gun delivers.

Now, let’s get into the nitty-gritty. The Model 58 features a 4-inch barrel, which gives you a good balance of accuracy and maneuverability. It has a six-round capacity and weighs in at a solid 2.5 pounds. The gun’s overall length is 9.25 inches, and it has a height of 5.5 inches. It’s a good size for a revolver, not too big and not too small.

The Model 58 has a blued finish and a checkered walnut grip. The sights are fixed, with a ramp front sight and a notch rear sight. The gun has a double-action trigger, which means you can fire the gun by simply pulling the trigger, or you can cock the hammer for a single-action shot. And let me tell you, this gun is a real pleasure to shoot in single-action.

Now, let’s talk about the .41 Magnum cartridge. This is a serious round, folks. It was developed in the 1960s as a compromise between the .357 Magnum and the .44 Magnum. It’s got a lot of stopping power, but it’s not quite as punishing to shoot as the .44 Magnum. The .41 Magnum round fires a 210-grain bullet at around 1,300 feet per second, which gives you some serious stopping power.

So there you have it, folks. The Smith & Wesson Model 58 .41 Magnum Military & Police 4″ M&P Revolver. It’s a classic, and it’s definitely worth checking out if you’re in the market for a hard-hitting revolver.  Please see specs below, our photos, and good luck on that bid!
