Sights / Optics: The rear sight is an adjustable semi-buckhorn. The front sight is a hooded beaded blade dovetailed to a serrated ramped mount fixed to the barrel above the muzzle. (The hood has been removed).

Stock Configuration & Condition: The stocks are two-piece checkered wood featuring a banded forend, a straight grip, a straight comb and a black polymer buttplate. The edge of the buttplate is slightly worn. The LOP measures 13.5″ from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttplate. Overall, the stocks are in about Excellent Condition.

Type of Finish: Blue.

Finish Originality: Original

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp. In this writer’s opinion the bore rates 9/10.

Overall Condition: This rifle retains about 99% of its metal finish.There is little tto no operation wear. The action shows no operational wear. The screw heads show no signs of use. The markings are clear. Overall, this rifle is in Excellent Condition.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The hammer has a half-cock safety position. The trigger is crisp. We did not fire this rifle. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Box, Paperwork & Accessories: The factory specifications tag is still attached to the lever loop.

Our Assessment: Made between 1972 and 2004, the Winchester Model 9422 was introduced as a way to try and earn back Winchester’s reputation after the post-1964 manufacturing changes. Utilizing a modified version of Winchester’s Model 61 slide-action mechanism, while retaining the look and feel of the Model 1894, the 9422 was a successful endeavor.

This is a near-new example that appears to have seen very limited use, if any at all. This rifle would be a great addition to any Winchester or lever action collection. Please see our photos and good luck! – L.S.
