Markings:  The left side of the chamber is marked, “WINCHESTER TRADE MARK MADE IN U.S.A.” , “-MODEL-12-12GA-2¾ CHAM.–WINCHESTER PROOF STEEL– IMP-CYL”.  The bottom of the receiver and mag tubes are marked with the serial number “1909600” and arrows.  This is a two barrel set.  The other barrel assembly has a matching serial number on the mag tube.  Both barrels have a vent rib that is marked “SIMMONS GUN SPECIALTIES INC. KANSAS CITY, MO” on the left side.  The other barrel assembly has the same markings except the choke reads “FULL”.  The buttstock is marked “TRADE WHITE LINE MARK / pachmayr R GUN WORKS / LOS ANGELES 15, CALIFORNIA U.S.A.”.

Barrel Length: Both barrels are 30” and have a Simmons Vent Rib.

Choke: Both chokes are fixed.  The currently installed barrel is IMP-CYL and the extra barrel assembly is FULL.

Sights / Optics: Both barrels have an orange fiber optic bar fixed to the top of the vent rib.  The rib is serrated for glare reduction.

Stock Configuration & Condition:  The Stocks are two piece smooth walnut with traditional pistol grip, fluted straight comb, rubber pachmayr buttpad, and serrated pump grip.   The LOP measures 13.75” from the front of the trigger to the back of the buttpad.  The stocks rate in about Fine overall condition.   There are no chips or cracks.  There are some light scratches and compression marks on both pump grips and buttstock.

Bore Condition:  The smooth bores are bright. There is no visible erosion.

Overall Condition:  This shotgun with its extra barrel assembly retains about 95% of its metal finish. The balance of the finish shows very minor thinning on some of the leading edges as well as some light operation wear on the pump slide.  The screw heads are sharp and pins are unmarred. The markings are clear. There is a scratch on the left side of the receiver along with some faint scratches on both sides.  Overall, this shotgun rates in about Excellent condition for a C&R shotgun.

Mechanics: The action functions correctly. The pump action is smooth and the trigger pull is light and crisp.  We have not fired this shotgun. As with all used firearms, a thorough cleaning may be necessary to meet your maintenance standards.

Our Assessment:  This pump-action shotgun is an absolute classic and one of the most popular shotguns of all time.  The Model 12 has a reputation for being one of the smoothest and most reliable pump-action shotguns ever made. It was first introduced in 1912 and remained in production until 1964.

The Model 12 is available in a variety of gauges, including 12, 16, 20, and 28 gauge, as well as .410 bore. And when it comes to shooting, the Model 12 is a dream. It has a smooth and effortless action that makes it easy to cycle through shells quickly. The trigger is crisp and clean, and the shotgun is accurate and reliable.
