Our Assessment: As the shock of Pearl Harbor subsided in 1942, the United States intensified its efforts in the war. There was a pressing need for weapons, with the U.S. military requiring more than one million carbines by the end of 1943. In response, companies that had not previously manufactured weapons began doing so. Among these companies was the U.S. National Postal Meter company based in Rochester, N.Y., which had previously specialized in making metered mailing machines, postal scales, and letter-handling equipment. Despite lacking the necessary equipment, factory, and workforce to produce a light, short-barrel rifle, the company was awarded a contract and successfully produced 413,017 M1 carbines between 1942 and 1944.   This particular M1 Carbine was produced in 1943 in their second run of production.  With a gorgeous refurbished stock and an icon WWII aesthetic only the M1 Carbine knows how to bolster, this M1 Carbine is a perfect addition to any collection or arsenal lineup.  Please see specs below, our photos, and good luck on your bid!
