Our Assessment: The 1911 and 1911-A1 pistols served the military of the United States from 1911 to 1985, through two World Wars and the Korean and Vietnam wars. They gained a reputation as a reliable handgun with plenty of stopping power, and are held in high regard by those who have used them. This example is a particularly interesting specimen, a Commercial/Military 1911A1.

This 1911 was produced in 1944 and was an original Government Production order inspected by Brigadier General Guy H. Drewry, Springfield Ordnance District, Army Inspector of Ordnance, June 17, 1942 to July 15, 1945. The interesting markings, or should I say lack thereof, makes this pistol even more interesting.  Either this is a one off “Lunch Box Special” or this was a Bring Back and the military marks were removed.  The slide is also not original but either way, this is definitely an interesting piece and will make a great collectors item or range piece.  Please see our photos and good luck!
